# Azure Event Hub Source Configuration

## Azure Event Hub Source Configuration

1. **Prerequisites**:

* The Azure Event Hub namespace must be in the *Standard* or higher tier.
* Enable Kafka interface (Microsoft provides configuration instructions).

2. **Configuration Fields**:

* **Shared Access Policy**: A policy with *Listen* permissions on the Event Hub (not a namespace-level policy).
* **Connection String**: Primary or secondary key from the shared access policy.
* **Consumer Group**: A dedicated group for each pipeline (create a new one if existing groups are in use).
* **Event Hub Name**: List of Event Hubs to read from (comma-separated).
* **Decoding Type**: Choose between *Bytes* or *JSON*.

3. **Save**: Click *Save* to activate the source.

**Important Notes**:

* A new consumer group starts reading from the beginning of the Event Hub’s retention period.
* Verify data flow by checking if active logs are ingested into Mezmo.
